“What now?”

ear-hearing.gifHow do you “hear” that question as you read it? What tone of voice does it have in your mind? Does it sound like someone who doesn’t like being interrupted? Think about it. Perhaps it sounds more like an angry challenge? Or would you say it sounds more like someone expecting bad news? Then again, you may hear it in a tone like someone learning something new,… or does it sound more like a friend who has come to help?

The tone of voice you hear says something about you. It reveals an attitude you carry that colors the way you hear and see many things in life. More importantly, it’s an attitude that will affect the way you hear (or mishear) God today. Think about that.

Imagine being in the very presence of God. Picture it. Feel it. Now, imagine saying only two words… “What now?” How would you say them? Hold that tone in your mind today as you listen for God.

Heh… this is kind of interesting. The “What now?” had “What do we do now, where do we go from here?” kind of tone for me. Not sure what that says about me, though. Care to psychoanalyze me? 😛
